The Reds were always the better side and controlled the game even when the Algarve reacted.

Kökçü, Arthur and Carreras scored for the visitors, Belloumi for the home side.

A good first half at São Luís, with both teams attacking and looking to score. Benfica were better, with more of the ball and attacking initiative, as they should have, but the Algarveans never shrank back and created some good situations.

In the 16th minute, however, Bah received Di María's cross and Kökçü headed in to make it 1-0. Farense's response was swift, with Belloumi (23′) firing past Trubin to equalize.

However, the Reds' right flank was on fire and Bah assisted Arthur Cabral for a goal with a heel deflection in the 34th minute.

The best player at half-time was Bah. The right-back had a GoalPoint Rating of 7.2, as a result of two assists, both of which were flagrant chances, two effective crosses out of two, just one misplaced pass out of 12 and nine defensive actions, including three interceptions.

The second half lost some liveliness and intensity, but Benfica were still on top. Farense tried to react, but just as they were managing to break free, Benfica added to their lead. Di María pulled off a spectacular pass, Carreras collected and shot successfully with his right foot.

Best on the pitch

A great game from right-back Alexander Bah, a key player in Benfica's triumph. While Carreras scored the goal that gave us peace of mind, it was Bah's feet that provided the two assists for Lisbon's first two goals in the first half.

His GoalPoint Rating of 7.8 also shows three passes to goal, two effective crosses out of five, 33 correct passes out of 35 (94%), six actions with the ball in the opponent's penalty area and the most defensive actions (15), with eight clearances standing out.
