HMD Global, the company already known for developing and producing Nokia phones since 2016, has just announced a model designed for beer fans. It's the Boring Phone , designed in partnership with the Heineken and Bodega brands, famous for their drinks and clothing, respectively.

The idea behind the phone is to offer an option with fewer distractions and greater distance from today's hyper-connected smartphones - which is why it has literally been dubbed the "boring" phone. The two companies are trying to encourage socialization, with a better balance between the digital world and real-life interactions.

So the phone doesn't have Android, and the availability of apps is also quite limited. In fact, it uses the Mocor RTOS, a version of the system that HMD/Nokia uses in its cell phones that resemble theirs from decades ago, before the popularization of smartphones.

The Boring Phone still has a few references of its own, such as displaying the phrase "have fun again" when there are no new emails to read. Just like Nokia's classic models, it also features the snake game, Snake, so that the user can distract themselves while waiting for that friend of theirs who is "just around the corner".

Its construction is also notable for having transparent parts, which allow the internal components such as circuit boards and connectors to be seen.

The device is basically a redesigned Nokia 2660 Flip, a model that is already sold by the company with different vibrant color options. Its set of specifications includes a 2.8-inch monochrome screen with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, as well as a 1.77-inch external panel.

The HMD Boring Phone also has support for 4G networks with two SIM card slots, a 0.3 MP VGA camera and a battery for up to a week on standby. There's a P2 port for headphones, support for FM radio and 128 MB of internal storage with the possibility of expansion via micro SD.

The Boring Phone will not be sold, but 5000 units will be given away as gifts to selected people. You can register on the official Heineken website to find out more about the product.
