From Utah to California: without a drop of water or a crumb of food, poor Galena traveled nearly a thousand kilometers in an Amazon returns box. Her companion on the long journey? Work boots with steel toes.
The pet cat was accidentally sent by her owners, who wanted to return a package to the e-commerce multinational founded by Jeff Bezos.
Galena, who, according to her owner, "loves playing with boxes", jumped into the box that the owners returned on April 10th.
Desperate, Galena's owners searched for her for almost a week: with the support of friends and neighbors, they distributed posters, to no avail... until they received a call from a Californian veterinarian, who told them that their cat had been found, six days after jumping into the box, by an employee of an Amazon warehouse in California.
"I ran to tell my husband that Galena had been found and we were heartbroken to realize that she had jumped into an oversized box that we had shipped the Wednesday before," Carrie Clark, the owner, told NBC. The two immediately booked tickets for a flight the next day.
"Despite being thinner and a little dehydrated, her blood work was completely normal and she was completely unharmed," Clark assured KSL: "it's a total miracle!!!"

Check your Amazon boxes three times," she appealed to other cat owners.
