The information was released by the Israeli government in a post on the social network X, formerly Twitter.
"We are heartbroken to share that Dror Or, who was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, has been confirmed as murdered and his body is being held in Gaza," the publication reads.
"May Dror's memory be a blessing," adds the Israeli government, recalling that the Portuguese citizen's wife, Yonat, was murdered in the October 7 attack.
The couple's children, Alma (13) and Noam (17) were also taken hostage by Hamas, but were released last November as part of a ceasefire agreement and an exchange of hostages for prisoners. Now, "they are orphans, along with their older brother Yahli," the Israeli government points out.
Dror Or was a chef and artisan cheese maker. He was 49 years old and obtained Portuguese nationality as a Jew of Sephardic descent.
In January, another citizen with Portuguese nationality died, 53-year-old Yossi Sharabi, who was also in the hands of Hamas.
In the total attack carried out on October 7, Hamas captured 222 people. More than 50 hostages have died in Gaza as part of Israel's attacks.
