According to an accounting by Verstka, which analyzed news reports and data from the Russian justice system, Russian soldiers returning from the war have killed 107 people since the war began.

The total number of victims exceeds 200, with at least 100 seriously injured.

Of these, 70 were at risk of death, 16 were victims of attempted murder, 10 were injured in traffic accidents, 3 were victims of "exceeding the limits of necessary defense" and one was seriously injured "due to negligence".

There were 84 crimes with victims committed by Russian servicemen taking part in Ukraine. The majority ended in murder: 55 crimes, which killed 76 people.

The majority of military criminals (91) are pardoned prisoners. Of these, 45 pardoned war participants killed again; at least 24 people turned out to be repeat offenders - more than one crime after returning from war.

In the cases analyzed, most of the crimes take place inside the home - domestic violence - and due to excessive drinking: while drinking together, soldiers attack acquaintances, neighbors or random people.

There aren't many details about this last type of crime, but the organization estimates that it is often personal insults directed at participants in the war or their relatives that lead to murder or serious assault, or unpleasant words about the war.
