WhatsApp is developing an integration with Instagram to allow "status" updates on WhatsApp (posts that only stay live for a maximum of 24 hours) to be shared as a "story" on Instagram.
The function is the same as the existing feature for linking to the Facebook account, but there is still no public release forecast.
The option to share statuses on Instagram was already under construction in the Beta version for Android, and now appears in the messenger's Beta app for iOS - not yet available for testing.
The option to share WhatsApp status content as Stories on Instagram enables greater integration between the Meta platforms and makes it easier to publish updates on personal profiles.
With the new feature, users no longer need to create separate posts for WhatsApp and Instagram.
Within the "Status privacy" settings in WhatsApp there will be a feature to link to an Instagram account.
Users will be able to activate or deactivate this function at any time. To control who can see the content shared on the social network, it will be necessary to manage the privacy settings on Instagram.
WhatsApp is expected to launch integration with Instagram soon for testing on Android and iOS, but no timetable has been set.
Other WhatsApp news
The messaging app is also preparing other new features and changes that may soon reach the public.
WhatsApp will make it easier to quickly connect with frequent contacts via a list of favorite people within the calls tab.
In addition, the interface will have a button to minimize the call window to continue the call while browsing other parts of the application.
The application should also change the position of the drawing tools, concentrating the brush and color picker at the bottom of the screen.
